Meet Wayne – Founder, Developer and Lifelong Proud Computer Geek

I’ve loved computers for as long as I can remember, right from when I saw a Cray Supercomputer on a television documentary in the early eighties. This thing was taller than a man, plus you could actually stand inside it.

After a fairly brief chat with my parents, it was decided that I would begin my home computer journey with a ZX Spectrum and save the Cray until later.

That fascination never left me, and I continued using and learning computers throughout school and into adulthood.

I started my career at a merchant bank, becoming a supervisor at 19 and a signatory and payment authoriser by 21. It gave me an early understanding of responsibility, accuracy and the importance of systems that people can rely on.

Then an opportunity came up to work in the IT department.

I picked it up quickly and realised I’d found where I belonged.

At 26, I left banking to become a software developer. I spent the next ten years working within the industry, eventually becoming a director, before reaching the slightly terrifying but exciting conclusion that I could do this for myself.

So, in 2009, Auxilium was born.

I began developing what was to become Auxilium Reverto in the summer of 2010 alongside bespoke software and consultancy work. Reverto was created to give regulated businesses stronger control, visibility, and structure over their operations, without forcing them to work within a system that didn’t understand what they actually needed.

That same thinking later led to Auxilium Patronas, our dedicated practice management platform for legal professionals.

For 14 years, Auxilium was just me.

I developed the software, supported the clients, managed the projects, answered the questions and kept everything moving. It was rewarding, occasionally relentless and probably proof that I’ve always enjoyed a challenge.

Then Georgina came along.

We’d first worked together a few years earlier when she was the main point of contact for a bespoke system I was developing. When her role was later placed at risk of redundancy, we met for a brew and talked about what might come next.

She joined Auxilium in November 2024 and quickly became the missing piece I hadn’t realised the business needed.

Georgina brings the project management, client understanding and ability to translate between people and technology. I bring the development, systems thinking and several decades of being an unapologetic computer geek.

It works.

P.S. If anyone knows of a reasonably priced Cray then do let me know.

Meet Georgina – Auxilium’s Closet Geek and Missing Jigsaw Piece

I started out studying Fashion and Textiles, fully expecting my future to involve fabric, design and, quite possibly, a move to London.

By my second year, I realised that the fashion industry and I probably weren’t destined for a long-term relationship. So, I left university, returned to the Isle of Man and joined a fashion brand, where I quickly discovered I was just as interested in how the business worked as I was in what it created.

Over the next ten years, I became involved in almost every part of the business. I worked closely with the accounts team, supported senior leadership and became the person people turned to when something needed untangling.

It turns out I really enjoy solving problems. Possibly a little too much.

My next role introduced me to Wayne, who was building a bespoke software system for the company. I became his main point of contact and, somewhere between raising queries, testing solutions and asking increasingly technical questions, my inner geek made herself known.

I later moved into project coordination with a local Gaming provider, where I qualified as an Agile Project Manager, building on my experience of managing people, processes and the occasional project-shaped curveball.

When my role was placed at risk of redundancy, I reached out to Wayne. We had a brew, talked about the future and, in November 2024, I joined Auxilium as Client & Software Support and Business Analyst. Since then, my role has evolved beyond those titles, wearing many hats to support both our clients and the wider business wherever needed.

Today, my role brings together everything I’ve picked up along the way: business analysis, project management, software support and client liaison. I help translate clients’ needs into practical solutions, keep projects moving and make sure people feel supported throughout the process.

I am also getting involved with the more technical aspects of the business, including coding, debugging and database design and maintenance work.

Looking back, it makes perfect sense that my career has followed curiosity rather than a straight line. As a creative person, I’ve naturally gravitated towards the things that spark my interest, following opportunities as they appeared rather than sticking to a carefully mapped-out plan. Development isn’t always linear; experience and knowledge often come from saying yes to new challenges and seeing where that spark of excitement leads.

What began as two people collaborating on a software project has grown into a strong team at Auxilium, and I’m proud to be part of helping our clients solve problems, improve processes and make our products work for them.
